Nova Scotia Interpreting Services is offering on-site training in Health Interpretation for groups of up to 15 people. This day-and-a half (12 hours) training can be offered in English or French and covers the following topics:
- Culture
- Cultural Interpreting
- Ethics and Liabilities
- Interpretation Process
- Professional Profile of Interpreter/Translator
- Interpreting in Health Care Settings
- Interpreter Professional Development
- Human Anatomy, Physiology and Common Diseases
Instruction includes exercises, self training and a final quiz.
Past participants include persons from Mi’kmaq, Acadian and international cultures who have responded enthusiastically to this practical expression of making diversity work in their communities.
Course components and length can be modified to suit your needs.
